...from London to York...

A man was on a train, from London to York is the opening line of one of the York-based Riding Lights Theatre Company sketches of the 1980s. For their July excursion, General Synod is heading towards its northern summer sitting. This will be the first York synod for quite a significant proportion of the members of this 'new' synod. Roumer has it that the shorts and t-shirts are used by members a little too liberally for the fashion police...

The agenda is, as earlier promised, rather dominated by two related issues - Women bishops, and what it is to be in Communion. Recent manoeverings in the ECUSA General Convention, and interventions from concerned provinces such as Nigeria, not to mention thesions within the Church of England, indicate a lively 5 days.
